Jim Corbett Park is Home to around hundreds of Migratory and local exotic birds. It is a Bird watchers paradise. Half a Million tourist come here annually for Bird Watching and tourism.
It is considered the best bird watching destination in India. It is Located in foothills of Himalaya and Shivalik Range. One can enjoy the Peace here and take pictures of birds of various breeds here. The chirping sounds of Birds and conversation between Peacock and Peahen are also an attraction here.
It hosts around 500 types of different species in the park itself. Some of these species are Ultramarine Flycatcher, Long-tailed Broadbill and Blue-winged Minla, little and Spotted Forktails, Brown Dipper and the Slaty Dipper, Long-billed Thrush and common green Magpie etc.
Predatory Birds
Some famous Predatory birds here that are visual delights are The Indian Shikra, The Black Winged Kite, and Crested Serpent Eagle, Crested Honey Buzzard, The Black Eagle, Himalayan Grey Headed Fishing Eagle etc.
Migratory Birds
Some migratory birds that come here for Wintering or breeding purposes here are Graylag Geese, Black & White Storks, and variety of Wagtails, 15 Species of Ducks, White and Rosy Pelicans, The Greta Black Headed Gull, Great Crested Grebe, Sandpipers and snipes etc. Jim Corbett National Park is a mainstream migration spot for these guest birds. They enjoy the winter here every year.
Grassland Birds
These birds are Doves, Bee Eaters, The Black Partridge, The Hoopoe, larks, Shrikes, Rollers, Mynas, and Tailor Birds, Robins, Chats, Warblers, Bulbuls and Redstarts etc.
Woodland Birds
In this category, the birds are Orioles, Drongos, Barbets, Hornbills, Woodpeckers, Pies, Thrushes, and Cuckoos, The Green Pigeon, Parakeets, Peafowl and The White Crested Kalij Pheasants etc are the birds they enjoy the warm grounds here.
There are 15 kinds of identified species of Owls are here. Nightjars and thick Knees are some other nighttime birds here.
Great Thicknee, the Ibisbill, and Wall Creeper can be seen on the banks of Kosi River.
One can visit the park from September to March for bird watching. In this time of year, the weather is for birds to come out and for tourist to take pictures of them.
